SERVICES TITLE
GEOLOGICAL DESIGN AND NEOTECTONIC STUDY (DUE TO SEISMICALLY ACTIVE FAULTS), FOR THE AGIOS KONSTANTINOS – KAMENA VURLA SECTION, OF THE PATHE HIGHWAY IN GREECE
AWARDING AUTHORITY
THE GREEK MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSPORT AND NETWORKS
STUDY PERIOD
1996 – 1997
SHORT DESCRIPTION
Geological design for the alignment, including detailed mapping, geological long and cross sections, engineering geological conditions in cuttings, embankments, bridges, cut & covers, and a 2,5 km long tunnel. Evaluation of geotechnical data, final proposals for the road and the geotechnical design.
One of the most important topics of the project was the neotectonic study that was conducted for existing active fault surfaces, given that this particular highway section is located at an area of active seismic faults, some of the most impressive seismic faults in Greece.
The highway section in now in operation.
